A full colour and spot illustration inspired by The Handmaid’s Tale. Created in a variety of media including layered monoprints, pencil, and ink, I intended to convey the uncertainty and ambiguity Atwood conveys through her first person exploration of a dystopian totalitarian society. The limited palette contrasts the bright colours the protagonist wears to their bleak environment, with the scene being seen through a convex mirror further distorting the character’s perception of reality.
