The Puppet

These outcomes were produced as a result of a research project into puppetry’s history and its presence in pop culture today.

Focusing on Punch and Judy’s lasting legacy and WW1’s impact on the decline of marionette theatres around the UK, these illustrations are a culmination of exploratory mark making and print making around the subject and are followed by speculatory roughs and thumbnails for an accompanying publication / coffee table book.

This body of work was conducted in a mix of charcoal, ink, and digital medias focusing on transparency and layering line and texture.
